About the ClubWaterAfrica is a non-profit organization centered in Lake Oswego, Oregon. Our club at Lakeridge High School, one of the two high schools in Lake Oswego, is dedicated to raising funds for this organization. WaterAfrica is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization which raises money to help World Vision provide clean safe water, sanitation and hygiene to rural villages in Zambia. Currently, many women and girls walk miles and miles from home to get unsafe water that frequently causes disease for them and their families. However, World Vision is changing that, and the WaterAfrica club at Lakeridge hopes to help them.

Founder of the ClubThe Founder is freshmen Karthik Sreedhar, who began his work with WaterAfrica in March 2015 and hopes to involve more students in this important cause. Before forming the club, Karthik raised $412.90 for the organization through prize money, can collections, and a fundraiser at Qdoba. Due to a 3 to 1 match, this became over $1,200. He has raised more than $4,000 since, which is more than the amount necessary to construct a well for an entire village. With the 3 to 1 match, this is equivalent to four wells in Zambia.
